Why it works
Opinion isn’t a defence. Data is.
When a slip claim lands, “the floor seemed fine” carries no weight. Pendulum testing to BS 7976 gives you the number the HSE recognises — the Pendulum Test Value — measured wet and dry, documented, and repeatable. It’s the difference between hoping and knowing.
The recognised method
BS 7976-2 pendulum testing — the HSE-preferred method for assessing floor slip potential.
Defensible documentation
Clear reports with PTV results by location, wet and dry, for your compliance file.
Scheduled re-testing
Periodic testing evidences ongoing due diligence — not just a one-off snapshot.
A fix on hand if needed
If results show a problem, we restore slip resistance too — one accountable contractor, measured before and after.

Questions, answered
What facilities teams ask us.
If your question isn’t covered, the survey is the fastest way to a straight answer — free and without obligation.
What is a PTV and what counts as safe?
The Pendulum Test Value measures dynamic friction. Under HSE guidance, a PTV of 36 or above indicates low slip potential; below 24 indicates high slip potential. Your report shows results per area, tested wet and dry.
When should floors be slip tested?
After incidents or near-misses, when flooring or cleaning regimes change, before opening new areas — and periodically as due diligence. Many clients test annually alongside their floor maintenance programme.
Is testing disruptive?
Not the way we do it — testing runs out of hours, so wet testing never puts a live floor out of use or creates its own hazard during trading.
What happens if a floor fails?
You get the data plus options: deep cleaning to restore a fouled profile, or treatment where the floor itself is the issue — followed by re-testing to evidence the improvement.
